What companion care includes
Companionship is about time together and support with everyday life. Visits are planned around what your loved one enjoys.
- Conversation, games, reading and hobbies
- Walks and outings in the community
- Going along to appointments
- Help with errands and shopping
- Light help around the home during the visit
Why companionship matters
Many older adults spend long hours on their own, especially after losing a partner or when family live further away. Regular visits give the week some structure and something to look forward to.
For families, companion care means someone is checking in, noticing changes and letting you know if something seems different.
Combining companionship with other care
Companionship can be part of a wider plan that includes personal care or dementia care. It is also a gentle way to start care for someone who is not yet ready for hands-on help.
